A wide variety of classes and workshops are available at Parndon Mill.

Current Classes

Classes take place either in the Project space which is light and airy and easily accessible, or in the artists’ studios. They are designed to suit beginners, the more experienced or advanced and those who want to develop new skills. Regular classes cover drawing, painting, print making, ceramics and various methods of working with glass. Workshops held from time to time include stone letter carving, photographycalligraphy, jewellery making and other skills.

Kiln formed glass with Ewa Wawrzyniak

One or two day courses in fused and slumped glass, combining glass, colours and metals are suitable for all levels from complete beginners to more advanced students. The main objective is an introduction to processes and techniques associated with kiln formed glass. All students will come away with several completed pieces. Classes can be tailor made for individuals or groups on weekdays, weekends or evenings.

Glass blowing with Jon Lewis

Jon Lewis and Yuki Kokai offer glass blowing tuition for beginners and intermediate glass blowers. In the fully equipped glass hot-shop the students will learn all about the ancient and magical craft of glass-making. First time glass blowers will be introduced to molten glass, workshop equipment and practice in a six hour session.

Sculpture and Drawing with Ivan Daggett

Mixed ability classes in sculpture and drawing exploring traditional and modern approaches through individual project work. Participants can choose between sculpture and drawing or a combination of both. Beginners are introduced to a variety of materials and observational skills to gain confidence, whilst those with more experience are encouraged to follow individual project work supported with ongoing guidance. Materials for sculpture range from clay, plaster, stone, wood, wire mesh and plaster, to Perspex, and found objects.

Rossetti Couture tutu tuition

Theresa Blake offers one-to-one tuition over two individual days (with some "homework" in between!). You will have the undivided attention of a tutu maker who has cut, made and fitted tutus for Royal Ballet Principal dancers, and designed tutus for world-class young dancers. Students can extend their skills for their own businesses, or learn to make tutus for the sheer enjoyment of it!

Life Drawing with Jordan Cook 

A dynamic 6-week Life Drawing class facilitated by artist Jordan Cook, Royal Drawing School Alumni and Tutor. Working directly from the model, we will break down various approaches to drawing the figure in the life room. Each week a different life model will be present, alternating from short to longer sustained poses.
