Rita Lampen is a designer jeweller of Finnish origin who, after a nomadic past in various European countries, is currently living in Hertfordshire and working from her studio at Parndon Mill near Harlow, Essex.
Her favourite materials are freshwater pearls, semiprecious stones and silver wire, which she twists and weaves into fun, light, romantic, fairytale designs that have been likened to natural forms such as vines, trees and even DNA chains.
Rita's UK outlets include Justice (Bath, Winchester), Inuti (Windsor), Lance James (Brentwood, Chelmsford, Hertford), Turning Heads (Brighton) and Primavera (Cambridge). She also takes on private commissions - her previous creations include a mermaid's headdress with sea shells, aquamarines and baroque pearls for the Caribbean wedding of two scubadivers, and a Preraphaelite-Mediaeval style crown of copper and brass leaves, pearls and garnets (the groom wore chainmail).
