This years' Open Studios was a great success with over 700 visitors enjoying meeting the creative community and enjoying the artworks and environs in glorious sunshine. " I never dreamt that we would be privileged to see so much excellent and diverse pieces of art. We really did have a simply gob smacking visit to the Mill on Sunday, and please pass on our thanks to all who opened their studios, and spent time talking to us, with such enthusiasm. We came away much up lifted and with some beautiful pieces that now adorn our Atrium. Bloody Brilliant." Wrote one visitor. JON LEWIS GAINS A COMMISSION FOR THE CAIRO CHILDRENS MUSEUM The photo above right shows four of the six spheres which form part of the 20 metre high sculpture which Jon has designed, with the architect Michael Mallinson, to be placed at the gateway to the new museum in Heliopolis, Cairo. Aided by his artist wife Yuki, the surfaces of the spheres we covered with 20,000 diachroic glass pyramid tiles. These play with the frequency of the light spectrum and flood the surrounding area in flickering butterflies of intense coloured light. Despite a hickup, when things went a little wobbly in Egypt earlier in the year, the project is back on course and delivery to site is imminent.
