Printmaking Classes

with Tania Scott Durrant

Regular classes in collagraph, drypoint etching, silk screen, lino cutting, wood block etc. are with practising and exhibiting printmaker Tania Scott Durrant:

Tuesday day class:
9.30 - 3.pm
£495 for a ten week term

Tuesday evening classes:
5 - 7 pm beginners
7 - 9 pm intermediates
£150 for an eight week term

In the summer of 2018, artworks by Tania's students were exhibited in The Gallery at Parndon Mill. The exhibition, happenstancewas incredibly popular. It showcased works made by diverse group of contemporary artists, all of whom attended classes given by Tania in her studio to learn the various techniques of printmaking. Some of Tania's own work was also included. It was a very impressive exhibition, and it was hard to believe that it was the work of students who had no prior experience of printmaking before attending classes here. The prints and their presentation looked entirely professional, and were a joy to look at. A slideshow of the happenstance exhibition, which demonstrates the wide range of printmaking techniques that Tania teaches in her classes, can be viewed here.

There is a range of excellent models, sensitive but challenging teaching, thoughtful and creative group ethos.
The studio is fully equipped and A1/A2 paper is available for purchase.

TUESDAY  6.30 pm - 9.30 pm
Fees: Three terms, 10 sessions per term, £195.00 per ten sessions.

PAINTING AND DRAWING

Roger Jeffs has been teaching painting and drawing classes in the Project Space since 2009.
The course is suitable for beginners and for those with some experience. An introductory programme ensures a good solid grounding in the basic elements of painting and drawing from observation - seeing, understanding and manipulating colour; use of line, shape, tone and texture and the importance of good composition. Students are encouraged to gain experience and skills in a wide range of media and techniques.
For the more advanced/experienced student the class may have a "workshop" ethos, dealing with individual problems, concerns and ideas. The atmosphere in the class is serious, professional and challenging but encouraging and often fun! And there is always generous support and enthusiasm from fellow students.
There are regular talks about painting and drawing which also explore the wider context of art history and contemporary fine art practice.
The course takes place in the Project Space at Parndon Mill on Wednesdays. Starting in September there are three ten week terms. It is possible to attend either mornings, afternoons or all day.

WEDNESDAY  9.45 am - 12.45pm
                          1.30 pm - 4.30 pm.
Fees: (10 weeks term) Half day - £195.  Full day - £300

Quotes from previous workshops:

'I was particularly pleased with the amount of teaching, rather than playing around for a few hours, I was stretched to learn new things’.

'A fabulous inspirational setting to feel creative in ...even when it’s pouring with rain outside, with Corrina’s friendly instruction and encouragement, I held charcoal for the first time. I was amazed how many ways it could be used. Hours flew by and I came away pleased as punch with my artistic efforts under my arm.'

'I’ve learnt how to define space without drawing lines and getting perspective right… both will help me draw better in the future.’

'As all progressed to make their mark. Hoped inspiration would soon spark.
For some it did, while others faltered. So carefully Corrina altered,
Helped, coerced and gasped in awe, As in her pupils' work she saw
A glimpse of genius spurred by her. Encouragement, and no demur. . .
What joy it was to draw that box, I have to say Corrina rocks!'

‘I went away with work I was really pleased with.’

'I had never worked with charcoal before and was at first a bit apprehensive but as the day progressed I gained more confidence and was delighted with my final artwork. I realised how good it was to experiment with different mediums. Corrina is an excellent teacher and I hope to join other classes in the future.'
