Grass Sculpture - Land art project.

Pupils at Little Parndon Junior School, led by art teachers Kim Richards & Rachael Thompson, and Brays Grove Community College students led by art teacher Mark Scholtes, have worked with Essex artist Nicola Burrell to create the designs which have been mown into a five acre meadow adjacent to Parndon Mill.

The project has given the young designers the opportunity to work on a much larger scale than the classroom or studio permits.

Project leader Roger Lee, of The Gallery at Parndon Mill, would like to extend huge thanks to the team who came to tackle the daunting task of cutting the meadow. Blisters, sunburn and aching muscles were suffered by all but the effort was worth the struggle.

The photograph of the completed design echos the pupils ideas well. Photo top was taken by Essex Police Air Support Unit. On behalf of the schools and the team, a big thank you to Essex Police for their support.

The project was funded by Arts in Essex small grants scheme and supported by Harlow Renaissance Ltd.
