Dominique Conte

Dominique Conte is the newest and youngest addition to the Parndon Mill Family of artisans. Dominique expresses her ideas and feelings through glass fusion - a relatively new media for her - but one she is perfectly at ease with. “I love the sensuality of glass; also because of my deafness I cannot always put my inner feelings into words so glass is my “voice”.

Dominique studied Art & Design at Ware College for two years obtaining a distinction in her subject, then took a year out spending time in Virginia USA, where major experiences in her life shaped her desire to continue as an artist full time. She took workshops and tutoring from Ewa Wawrzyniak, a highly recognised artist working in glass, and has now taken her own small studio at Parndon Mill.

She is in her first year of the Contemporary Applied Arts course at Hertfordshire University, whilst continuing to express her ideas in glass in her studio at the Mill.

Her interests lay in depicting architecture particularly - something that inspires her; and the study of animals and the sea. Through her deafness Dominique “sees” her feelings in her subject matter and expresses them in her own unique and sometimes very abstract way. She has a range of animal pieces and some abstract works already in her collection and is currently working on the Bullet in London.
