Classes in Kiln formed Glass

One or Two Days Course in Fused &
Slumped Glass

Course in fused and slumped glass,
combining glass, colours and metals.
Run by Ewa Wawrzyniak and Karen Murphy at their studio at the beautiful setting of Parndon Mill, near Harlow.

Suitable for all levels from complete
beginners to more advanced students.
Its main objective is an introduction to
processes and techniques associated with kiln formed glass. All students will come away with several completed pieces.
Classes can be tailor made or individual, or group classes are run on weekdays, weekends and evenings.

Pottery class

AILA SIMPSON BA(hons) MA

One - one tuition in all aspects of ceramics. 2 hour sessions available on Monday & Thursday mornings at £15.00 per session. Materials are charged at cost and as an example a 30 cm vessel would cost £3.50 glazed and fired!

Sculpture

Duration: 10 weeks
Start date: 2 classes - Monday 4th & Thursday 7th January                   
Time: 6.30 - 9.30
Price: £165.00 excluding materials
Tutor: Ivan Daggett

Mixed abilities sculpture class introducing and exploring traditional and modern approaches. Support will vary from individual experience and requirement. Beginners will have the opportunity to be introduced to a variety of methods to gain confidence whilst those with more experience will be able to discuss and explore more individual ideas.

Monday’s class provides more of an opportunity for beginners to explore clay modelling and carving from the figure through drawing, clay relief and full 3D modelling.

Thursday’s class offers those with more experience the opportunity to explore project work using the work of other contemporary and historical artists to influences ideas.

Art for Beginners and Intermediates

This class is aimed at those with an interest in art and would like to gain confidence to create their own and to those who want to continue developing new skills. You are not going to learn how to do water colours of Robins on flower pots but you will cover the following:

Beginners will have an Introduction to styles in art history, 3D methods - clay for slab, coil and modelling and plaster for casting, 2D methods - drawing, painting, print making, collage and mixed media.

Intermediates will be encouraged to develop their skills with the opportunity to explore project based work.

SPONTANEOUS ART
CREATIVITY AND IMAGINATION
A one day workshop in the beautiful surroundings at Parndon Mill

Saturday 11th September 2010
10.30 – 4.30

In this workshop we will explore and move beyond the fears that hold us back and create art in a spontaneous, playful and adventurous way.   Exploring colour, line, text and collage and mask making, you will  be free to express yourself in a contained environment.

Please bring lunch to share.  Refreshments are included.

Cost per person: £65.00 (includes all materials, but please feel free to bring any of your own).

Sue McDonald is a professional painter working from her studio at Parndon Mill.   Trained in Creativity and Imagination with the IATE in London, Sue has taught art for many years in Adult Education and private groups. She is also chair for an art group in Old Harlow and resident tutor at an art group in Hoddesdon.  Combining a role of Secretary for Parndon Mill Artists she is also actively involved in Open Studios.

Also assisting Sue will be Maite Pegrum-Uribarri who has, in the past, worked with the NHS as an Art Therapist.

Spontaneous art-making has the probability of helping you to:

ANIMAL PORTRAITS WITH
SUE MCDONALD

This course is an opportunity for you to paint your favourite pet or wildlife animal.

A two day workshop - starting from the basic drawing, we will study the form of animals and learn techniques of painting the texture of fur and feathers.

Learn how to compose a picture, understand perspective and composition.
Discover the techniques of using acrylic and/or oil paint.
Finally put all this together to create a finished portrait.

Venue: The Project Space, Parndon Mill

Dates: 7th & 8th August or 4th & 5th Sept
Time : 10 am - 4 pm
Cost: £95.00 inclusive. (Materials included, but bring your own brushes!)
